Our recent growth has necessitated the need for a part-time mechanic at our shop. Individuals must be mature, reliable, hard-working, and have at least 10 years of experience working on automobiles, heavy trucks, and/or small equipment. Candidates must also have a high level of attention to details.
The schedule is flexible, but evening and weekend hours are preferred. We anticipate 5-10 hours of work per week. This will vary based on the time of year and the number of repairs needed. Some weeks will require 1-2 hours, while others may require 20. We anticipate the position consuming more hours in future years. Duties include cleaning, maintenance, and repair of the entire fleet, which includes 3 trucks, 3 loaders, 2 excavators, 3 trailers, and numerous small support equipment. General maintenance and repair of our 3 buildings are also included. A qualified candidate should be able to make moderate/advanced repairs on their own, be able to weld and use torches, as well as be familiar with researching part numbers on the internet and ordering parts.
We are looking for a person that is interested in maintaining and operating a first-class fleet of late-model equipment. Being proactive in catching problems before they create downtime for our field crew is a priority. If you are just looking to fix broken equipment, then this is probably not a job for you. We need someone that is excited to keep our fleet moving and for whom making a repair involves improving the equipment, and not just making it run again.
Driver’s license with a clean record is required. A class A Commercial Drivers License is highly preferred. We have many tools in our shop, but a candidate with access to additional tools and repair equipment would be preferred.
